My name is Edith, I am Ugandan and I come from Kabale District. I embarked on a journey to bring to life the thoughts of an everyday woman in Uganda of this day and age. The goal is to keep the treasures of our generation alive. I will not allow to be defined by a broken system and yet I have to create a way on how to thrive through it. I create this website because I am one of the many 1000s of people around the world especially where many things were done wrong and the statements made to justify were “what did you expect me to do?” “I had no choice” “It wasn’t my fault” “Did you die” “so what?” “you are not the first and you are not the only one!” “Who do you think you are?”

Well, here is my thought process, We expected you to do better, You had many choices but you just settled for the most convenient for you, I didn’t die but I could have and may be I did it’s just that you don’t know that something in me died and it’s beginning to rote and only I is dealing with its stinge, Yes it may not have been your fault but what was your decision about it, you had a role to play, was it played? So we are broken so now we can’t trust anyone and also so we are okay being alone minding our daily businesses, enjoying festive holidays by ourselves and sending money to those that need it. We are not going to give our energy to toxic people anymore. We shall start our own businesses and make right decisions, we won’t work for greedy people. and we will do things for the right reasons.

We won’t make wedding vows until we are both in complete agreement, we won’t cheat because our partners cheated, we won’t treat our sisters and brothers in law badly we will respect their decisions and we won’t gossip about their lives with our cousins. We won’t shame them when they have life challenges, we will make money and use it to support each other’s businesses.

We won’t drink and forget to pay school fees, we won’t marry multiple women, we will wear messy hair so that our own can get education, we will invest in our careers and our children’s careers and not in our fantasies. We will respect each other’s boundaries and privacy. We will stand on business. We shall not cheat our business partners, clients or customers. We will not do things to prove to anyone but we will do things because they are right.

I may not be the first one nor the only one that’s true but I will sow my seed of good intention, I will teach my children to cultivate it and when it bears fruit They will invite their colleagues to eat from the tree of good intention and each of them will take the seed and plant it in their backyard.
